Milwaukee Youth Arts Center In-Depth
The Milwaukee Youth Arts Center (MYAC) was born of the collaborative efforts of First Stage Children’s Theater and Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra in an attempt to address space needs critical to the achievement of their missions and visions. This shared facility was the creative solution they had been looking for. During this session, take a walk through MYAC and talk with the collaborators, architects and builders who brought this facility to life.
Liz Lerman Dance Exchange Interactive Keynote Session #1
Take part in the first session of this interactive keynote. The second and third sessions will take place on Friday and Saturday and will culminate in a final Interactive Keynote performance on Saturday afternoon. It is not required to attend the first session in order to perform, however it is highly recommended.
Open Discussion/Panel—How Will Youth Arts Education Survive and Thrive in this New World?
With the financial meltdown of the past year and a half, the economics of funding arts education has become more challenging than ever. Schools, which at one time had fine arts programs as a given in their budgets, have been forced to slash courses and lay off teachers. This session will provide a forum for discussion on ideas, methods and solutions to the endangered state of youth arts.
