Answer to "What is your greatest challenge?"
Arts education teachers in USA schools are the only personal arts links for most American students. Arts teachers should teach performance skills, knowledge about understanding and creating, and connections to our cultural heritage. I challenge arts teachers everywhere to decrease the cultural divide between them and their students by: 1)confronting misconceptions about race, culture, gender, and poverty, and 2) learning how to value and promote students' strengths. You are in powerful positions; don't blow it! Another challenge is to continuously advocate for the voiceless students who are denied access to quality, comprehensive, sequential instruction in a minimum of one arts discipline. Who will be in the concert halls, theaters and museums if our students' aesthetic enjoyment is limited to "America's Got Talent?"

Answer to "What is your greatest challenge?"
Being able to provide our services to the large number of students and families who would like to participate. The service we provide each child costs our organization from $1,500 - $2000 per child. This is an expensive project but we want to find a way to take every child who wants to learn how to play an instrument.
